His eyes burst out a super nova of infinite hatred. His hands point at Limbo. Millions of children. From ancient until modern times. From forests that no longer exist, from empires, kingdoms and lands that prospered and declined, now only mentioned in books. Children with jeans and cloaks, with shorts and leather, some naked, some with nappies.
\nThose murdered, bear a red thin line beneath the eye, like a tear, like blood.<\/p>\n

-If God existed, I should go back and kill \u2018em all.
\n-Don\u2019t say things like that. About God. About death. You know I can\u2019t stand it. Spare me.<\/p>\n

She caresses the red line on her cheek.<\/p>\n

-They. They didn\u2019t have pity on you.
\n-Not all of them.
\n-All of them.
\n-Some are innocent.
\n-My dear Marion. No one is innocent. No grown-up is. Look at Jella. She starved to death. Didn\u2019t they know? What did they do?
\n-You scare me. You don\u2019t talk like a child. You don\u2019t think as a child.
\n-I didn\u2019t have time. I didn\u2019t have time to live as a child. I didn\u2019t play. I was begging in the streets for food. That\u2019s all I remember. My empty tummy, my mother crying. And the glint. The fire.

\n-They didn\u2019t let me be one. You neither.<\/p>\n

A baby approaches crawling, nameless, not christened. It struggles to stand on its feet. It reaches out and touches the tears in Abdullah \u2018s face.<\/p>\n

–baddie, baddie<\/em> says the baby.<\/p>\n

-My mother was good, says Marion. She read me stories every night. She bought me ice-cream in winter.
\n-Ice cream.
\n-And in winter. She wasn\u2019t bad.
\n\u2013baddie, baddie<\/em> , says the baby.
\n-I\u2019ll spare your mother\u2019s life.
\n-She\u2019s not alive. We were together in the theater when the bang was heard.<\/p>\n

Marion cries. Abdullah hugs her. The baby says baddie, baddie. There is no God.<\/p>\n

-I\u2019ll go back and kill them all.
\n-That\u2019s what grown-ups do. Don\u2019t do it.
\n-It serves them right.
\n-Don\u2019t act like a grown-up. Give them ice-cream.
\n-Ice cream?
\n-To everone.<\/p>\n

Abdullah is laughing.<\/p>\n

-What kind of super hero is that?
\n-The one who hands ice-cream. To everyone.
\n-I was given ice cream once. It was a lady. A stranger. She bought me ice-cream, she gave me some money and knelt by me. She said something in her language. I didn\u2019t understand. But she was good.
\n–baddie,baddie<\/em>, the baby yells.
\n-No! She was good.
\n-Don\u2019t kill her, says Marion.<\/p>\n

Abdullah takes the baby in his arms and lulls it to sleep. Then speaks in a whisper so that the baby won\u2019t wake up.<\/p>\n

-I\u2019d like to go and talk to them. But they won\u2019t listen. They will go on killing and not give a damn.
\n-Some will listen.
\n-A few.
\n-Perhaps just one.
\n-One?
\n-Isn\u2019t one enough?
\n-What could one man possibly do?
\n-Get you ice-cream.<\/p>\n

Abdullah lays the baby on a cloud.<\/p>\n

-A super hero who gives ice-cream?
\n-Much better than the one who kills.<\/p>\n

He looks at her adoringly.<\/p>\n

-If we grew up, I would ask you to marry me.
\n-And I would ask you to love me.
\n-But I love you!
\n-I know it, you fool!<\/p>\n

They hug each other. The baby sleeps. The children play. And there is a God.<\/p>\n
